Don’t let the credit burrows tell you that what is on your report is on there until it ages out.  There are things you can do to change your score for the better in a short period of time.

When you of to improve your credit scores there is usually a reason.  You could be looking to:

·         Buy a house

·         Buy a car

·         Get a credit card

·         Get a line of credit

·         Make a large purchase

If you have a poor credit score you may find it hard to find a creditor willing to extend you a loan, or the interest rate may be too high for you to make it viable.   If you find yourself in this position then it is time to take a proactive approach to improving your credit score.

The first thing to do is to order a copy of your credit report.  You are aloud to get one copy for free once a year.   You can do that here: int.annualcreditreport.com.   It is important to know what your credit score is and what in on your report if you want to quickly rebuild credit.   Once you have a copy of your credit report review it for errors.  Look for anything you don’t recognize and make a note about each item you wish to dispute.  It is important to remember that it is up to the credit burrows to prove that an item is valid.  This means that if you don’t recognize anything on your credit report then you have the right to ask them to prove it is yours.  If they can’t then in must be removed form your report.

After you have a list of all items you wish to dispute then write a letter for each one separately asking the respective credit reporting company to validate the item.  When writing your letters make sure you make copies of everything and keep a copy in a file for your records.

Don’t just send in a stack of letters all at once.  Instead send in 2-3 letters at a time.  You don’t want the credit reporting companies to label your request as frivolous and not do anything about your request.  Whereas if you send in a few at a time and wait for them to process your request.  Then once they have processed the first set of requests send in the next set of letters.

Once items start coming off your credit report you will receive a new updated report.  When you get your newly updated report repeat the process until all the items you want removed are gone.

If you haven’t had any experience in improving your credit score and need to rapidly improve it then it would be wise to either hire a professional credit repair company or register for a guided credit repair program online.
